Welcoming Diversity through Workplace Training Programs

If you are working in an organization in the United States, you may find that there are many generations of people from many different backgrounds working in an organization. This creates a diverse workforce in terms of culture and generational diversity, as well as bringing a difference in work style, motivation, methods of communication and work ethic. Organizational management of such companies should work towards a common goal of acceptance and success and establish a common ground for their employees to express their respect, include them, and introduce leaders who can mentor about cultural differences through better modes of communication.

Here are some of the ways by which you can create a comfortable workplace for your employees:

  • ·         Training about being an integral part of an organization should be imposed at every level so that employees are on the same page in regards to performance, communication and success.
  • ·         The environment has to be friendly and comfortable so that employees feel at ease and are motivated to express themselves.
  • ·         It is important to respect backgrounds and differences. Employees need to be respected for the background and culture they come from because they have a lot to offer to the company and other employees based on their own personal experiences.
  • ·         As the employees are expected to be engaged in their work, it is advised to create and develop stronger relationships with mentors, leaders and management for personal support, empowerment and motivation.
  • ·         The administration of the organization should make the effort of accommodating cultural and background differences in order to strike the right balance between personal and professional life.
Since communication is the key to successful business, it is also important that it is a constant process in the organization, because the world is more global and requires efficiency in communicating with each other. Bring Unity Through Diversity In The Workplace

Companies, government agencies and other organizations are finding it more and more difficult to manage the increasing diversity within their organization and consumer base. Diversity training programs are designed to promote equal treatment, mutual understanding and respect among your workforce. The goal of these programs is to promote camaraderie in the workplace regardless of religious beliefs, race, gender or sexual orientation. A diversity training program is a great tool for helping employees understands how they impact others in their workplace.

Each employee should be recognized for their talents and made to feel empowered. By empowering your employees, they can develop the confidence needed to make a lasting impact on their organization. These talents should include an employee’s interpersonal skills and how they establish relationships within their work environment. Organizations should aim to encourage their employees to work together and reward their team productivity as much as they do for individual achievements.

Having a clear understanding of your workplace’s diversity can improve your employees’ productivity. This is done learning to respect one another’s backgrounds and to appreciate the skills they bring to the table. These training programs and the surveys should be submitted in a safe and accommodating way that allows employees to discuss their concerns honestly without any fear of reprisal.

These Diversity programs in the workplace are most effective when they help in improving their organization's morale and productivity. By encouraging diversity in the workplace, a company can solve many of the problems their workforce might encounter before they arise.  This way, an organization can save both time and money while helping their employees get on the right track.

Get Better Experience through Practical Training

If you live in Massachusetts, you will never have to worry about a shortage of world class medical facilities. Filled with some of the finest medical care in the country, Massachusetts is home to numerous hospitals and nursing homes, providing their patients with the finest possible treatment. But have you ever wondered how they have kept up with their impeccable service and continued to help customers overcome their difficulties? Frankly, I believe that it is the training and services provided by the staff and management of the hospitals that keeps them going and helps establish them as some of the best in the country.

A hospital is not just known for the treatment and services they provide. They should encompass every aspect of the medical field and introduce them to the hospital’s infrastructure so that they can serve better. Mass General Hospital is one institution which not only supports patient care, innovative study and research, but also has partnerships with other medical institutions to help promote superior healthcare.

Some hospitals also provide educational programs and fellowships to prospective students who want to pursue a career in the medical and healthcare industry. These programs and fellowships are done to promote diversity and encourage students of diverse backgrounds to take an interest and build a career in healthcare. These programs encourage students to identify and respect their backgrounds and use it as their strengths in practical field work. However, these programs are only effective if students have their mind set educating themselves to improve their career standing.

For anyone interested in advancing their career in the medical field, they should browse through the programs offered and try to associate themselves with a hospital to get a better experience and the best chance to excel. In addition to Mass General Hospital, there are many other institutions which offer similar programs to those interested to jumpstart their career in healthcare.

Boost Your Confidence and Skills through a Diversity Nursing Fellowship Program

A little guidance goes a long way, and from my personal experience, I can say that mentorship should be adapted in all spheres of life and for everyone so that all of us get a fair chance to build ourselves.  As a person from an underprivileged background, mentor programs are especially beneficial for people like me who wouldn’t otherwise have the chance for a leg up in their career.

Since childhood, I’ve dreamt of becoming a nurse. As a child, I used to make caps of paper, place it on my head and whenever we used to play, I had to be the nurse who tends to people. This dream grew with me and by the time I was in college, this was something I wanted to pursue. I started sending applications and wherever I went for interviews I was not selected based on my inexperience and the quality of my schooling. A year passed and nothing happened.

My uncle worked at a reputed hospital and he referred me to the diversity program conducted in the hospital. I was, am and will always be thankful to him. We were taught about the various aspects of healthcare and had to undergo orientation programs, classes, and the best of all, practical application.  Getting enrolled in this program automatically enables you to be a part of the diversity mentoring program where we were allowed to speak to our assigned mentors about our experiences, situations, and frustrations during our training period.

The mentors were amazing and encouraged me to a great extent. They made me look at my capabilities and helped me develop a more analytical mind. I developed confidence, and by the end of the training, I was selected to work as a trainee in the hospital. They even taught me to respect my background and celebrate being a part of it.
If you have a dream and what to realize it put your full effort and with proper mentoring through diversity mentoring program and training you can achieve your goal.

How the Nursing Diversity Program Helped me Fulfill my Nursing Dreams

Hello readers! I am a nurse and would like to share with you my experience on how I became a nurse and what inspired me to pursue this career path. When I was growing up, I would only see my mother at night. She was also a nurse, working in the same hospital as I do now. Whenever I asked her what she did all day, she used to say “I help sick people and help them become well”. I always pictured her as a modern day super heroine who works by day and turns into a great mom by night.

That was pretty much what inspired me; I wanted to be just like my mother and do the things she did. In order to get better exposure and experience, my mother enrolled me in one of the diversity training programs that were offered by her hospital for the staff’s children. Out of hundreds of entries, I was one of the 15 people selected for this fellowship. It was one of my proudest achievements.

The fellowship was a six-week program and started with an orientation, phlebotomy classes and nursing orientation. Each fellow had their own individual mentor who guides them in their various classes throughout the program. We had to work in shifts, and every Friday we used sit with our mentors and be encouraged to speak freely and discuss our problems and experience. At the end of the fellowship, we had to give presentations in our graduation ceremony to share with the audience how the program had benefited us.

My mother was extremely proud when she heard my presentation and that I had decided to follow her career path in nursing. It was a wonderful experience, and for those who are searching for diversity training programs in nursing, be sure to send in your application soon for a better chance of enrollment and a good prospect of developing a nursing career.
